FOR PEACE
The sun he bade a farewell warm,
The wind she sang a verse,
Golden the sky , golden the lake,
Golden was our universe.
The breeze was fresh and fragrant,
having come through gardens bright,
All nature bloomed in harmony
as day melted into night.
he heavens were washed in honey,
by some fairy's magical wand-
But the twittering birds, homeward bound,
Flew to some lovelier land.
Lovlier, yes, that faraway land,
still more than our golden earth ,
For there dwelt peace and harmony,
for there dwelt love and mirth.
Here, as the viel if darkness fell,
fading out the vibrant glow,
inspite of all the beauty
there was hatred , pain and woe.
Who listens to the bird that sings?
Who smiles as nature thrives?
Too full we are with the hatred now,
Too busuy uprooting lives.
When shall we learn to live in peace,
under the sun kissed sky?
When shall we make our lovely world,
lovelier: when shall we try?
Oh ! that shall be the prettiest day,
when we understand the dove,
When we , grateful of life and birth,
shall bask in his golden love.
